雄雌二つの段瀑である「雨乞いの滝」は、左側の雄滝が２７ｍ、左側の雌滝が４５ｍ。

駐車場から雨乞いの滝までの７００ｍで、到着するまで「うぐいす滝」、「不動滝」、「地獄淵」、「もみじ滝」、「観音滝」があり、２０分のハイキングも退屈しません。

中部山渓県立自然公園の指定区域、吉野川下流で合流する鮎喰川（あくいがわ）の支流の高根谷川（こうねだにがわ）の上流にある夫婦滝です。

「雨乞いの滝」という名前は、名が示す通りかつてこの地の農民が干ばつの際に、ここでわらみのを着て雨乞いを行ったことに由来するとのこと。
As the name suggests, the name "Amagoi waterfall" comes from the fact that once a farmer in this area wore a straw hat when he drought, he begged for rain.
駐車場から「雨乞いの滝」までの距離は７００ｍほどですが、普段歩きなれていない人には傾斜のある７００ｍはかなりの運動となります。

また、目的地の「雨乞いの滝」から更に１．１ｋｍほど滝の上方に歩くと、標高７００ｍ地点には卑弥呼伝説の残る高根山「悲願寺」があります。
In addition, if you walk further 1.1km above the waterfall from the destination, "Amagoi Waterfall", you will find "Higan Temple", a mountain where Mt. Takane remains, at 700m above sea level.
しかし、「雨乞いの滝」までの道のりがキツイと感じた方には、これ以上進むのはおススメできません。

「雨乞いの滝」までの道のりと、「雨乞いの滝」から「悲願寺」までの道のりは、距離が延びるだけでなく、道のりもこれまでよりも過酷だからです。

「雨乞いの滝」まで行ってまだまだ体力に余裕があるなら行ってみるのもいいと思います。

山の中にひっそりと手入れの行き届いた芝や、境内には常夜塔の印象に残る「悲願寺」が現れます。
